Since 1986, Ward Thomas has been safely transporting and storing fine art for galleries, museums and private individuals. Over the years we have developed a clear understanding of what our clients require and a strong practical understanding of how it should be done.

Art Installation
Ward Thomas’s professional technicians are highly trained and able to safely handle and install artworks in varying media.

Fine art packing and shipping
Ward Thomas offers all aspects of fine art packing and shipping. As well as conventional air and sea freight, we also operate cost effective consolidated shipments throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
We cater for galleries, private collectors and consultants with a comprehensive range of services from collection management, customised packing, local transport and condition reporting to co-ordinating complex international art fairs, exhibitions and installations. Our network of international fine art agents also enables us to have a truly global reach. We operate Bond and Temporary Admission facilities from our London warehouse which is also regulated by the Department for Transport.

Case fabrication
Ward Thomas have access to a broad range of specialist materials and methods which focus on the protection and safety of any object in our care. These methods range from cost-efficient one-way casing to the full museum standard. All materials used comply with current international specifications.

High security warehouses and viewing facilities
All our warehouses are custom built for the storage of fine art and cultural items with state of the art security systems and closely managed handling procedures. Our London warehouse has two large viewing rooms. One can be completely blacked out for photography. Our second warehouse in Swindon offers secure cost-effective storage for long term projects.

Team structure and training
Our 55 strong staff of full time art and object handlers has a wealth of experience which is shared and communicated through flexible team structures that encourage the spread of skills. New members of staff are put through an induction process and a series of placements with experienced staff to ensure consistency in our handling procedures. Written handling standards underpin each Technician’s personal training plan. Ongoing performance management is augmented with an annual appraisal, where each member of staff is able to discuss their longer term development. We have a good range of experience and skills to create the most appropriate team for each project.
